Madden Media Internships

Marketing Department

The Madden Media marketing department typically hires one student intern for each spring, summer, and fall semester. Interns are expected to work a minimum of eight hours each week. While this is an unpaid position, we are happy to help arrange for college credit.

Interns will learn and experience the day-to-day process of marketing in the publishing industry. To read a detailed description of marketing intern duties, please see the following checklist. Marketing Department Internship Program Checklist:
  • Intro to Madden Media--who we are, what we publish, office tour, schedule, complete emergency info form and Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • Introduction to the products we market: publications and inserts.
  • Introduction to computer system and network.
  • Meet with members of the marketing department to develop an understanding of the interactions between marketing and other departments.
  • Update reader surveys and analyze data for sales purposes.
  • Survey advertisers for marketing effectiveness and brand awareness and present data to marketing team.
  • Perform competitive analysis on the Tucson and Phoenix marketplace.
  • Fact check monthly marketing materials.
  • Research, update and possibly design market trends materials.
  • May attend marketing department meetings, if schedule permits, to help brainstorm marketing campaigns and ideas.
  • Develop and propose a marketing campaign for one or more issues of a publication.
  • Maintain media kit inventory for the Tucson sales team.
  • Mid-semester discussion--intern feedback on progress, your goals, questions
  • Help with mail, photocopying, faxing, and filing as needed
