Summary
Art runs deep in Door County—from shoreline galleries to murals that tell the community’s story. Madden partnered with Destination Door County to showcase that creativity through the “Art in the Door” campaign, a digital effort that celebrated the artists shaping the region’s identity. Through playful storytelling, thoughtful media, and visuals that felt handcrafted, we turned inspiration into action—inviting travelers to explore the peninsula’s creative side, one brushstroke (or Instagram scroll) at a time.

Call for Artists
We invited locals to submit original 2D artwork based on the selected feelings that Door County inspires. From the 99 entries received, eight finalists were chosen by an expert jury. The public was then invited to vote for four winners.
The Winning Artwork
During the public voting portion, we received 5,288 votes in just two and a half weeks. These votes generated new leads for Destination Door County’s email marketing, exposing new visitors to what the area has to offer and increasing pride of place among locals. Four winning entries were chosen as a result of the voting.
Promoting the Artists
We collaborated with a local videography company to create a video series featuring each winning artist. These videos provide an intimate glimpse into the artists’ personal journeys, their profound connection to Door County, and the significance of their artworks.
